Cindy Ly, MD, PhD

Cindy is originally from Houston, Texas and received her medical degree and doctorate in Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine. Her doctorate work focused on identifying and characterizing novel genes involved in neuronal communication and synaptic function. She then completed an internship in Internal Medicine, residency in Neurology, and specialty training in Neuromuscular Diseases at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Dr. Ly is board certified in Neurology, Neuromuscular Pathology and Neuromuscular Medicine. During her fellowship, she was awarded a Clinical Research Training Fellowship in ALS Research from the American Academy of Neurology, American Brain Foundation, and ALS Association and is currently supported by a K08 award from the NIH. She recently joined the faculty to pursue basic and translational research in ALS focused on examining how misregulation of autophagy, a key protein quality control pathway, may lead to ALS.
