Clinical Program for SOD-1

Sean E. Smith, MD, spearheads our Tofersen Clinic (brand name: Qalsody), dedicated to providing treatment for patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) caused by a mutation in the SOD1 gene.

Clinic Schedule and Location

When: The clinic is held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month.

Where: Outpatient Infusion Center, 10th Floor, Center for Advanced Medicine.

Visit Details

Duration: Visits typically take approximately two hours.

Procedure: A standard visit involves:

  • Recording of vital signs.
  • Laboratory work (blood draws).
  • Lumbar puncture for Tofersen dosing.

A mandatory one-hour monitoring period following the dose administration.

Patient Care and Monitoring

Patients receive routine neurological examinations and comprehensive lab work to monitor their progress and safety. We strongly encourage patients to participate in customized rehabilitation programs designed to complement their Tofersen treatment and maximize functional benefit.
